South West 4x4 is owned by Jamie Elsmore, who was born and raised in Devon before heading off for a 10-year career as a helicopter engineer in the Royal Navy. Having returned to the South West to raise his family, Jamie turned his engineering expertise to cars and commercial vehicles, developing a specialist interest in 4x4 off-road cars.
He honed his interest by competing in 4x4 off-road events, winning awards in national competitions, including the aptly named De-Cider Trophy – a particularly proud moment as it was on his home turf. He grew the garage at the same time, starting with 4x4 repairs, maintenance, bespoke fabrication and rebuilds before expanding to include other cars and commercial vehicles as well.
The company moved to a new, custom-designed site at Torr Trade Park in 2021 to provide clients with the latest equipment to suit all vehicles including 4x4s and large commercial vans, as well as all services from small repairs to MOTs, services, and restorations.
